AROMA 3: 'Leather & Suede'

The leathery smell of suede or dried leather, from the perfumery essence known as 'Suederol'.

A leather note in wine is usually as a result of extended bottle ageing, after post-fermentation oak ageing. Known as a tertiary characteristic - meaning something that develops from bottle age, rather than directly relating to the grape or winemaking process.

It's allied to earthy, smoky and tobacco notes.

What did the aroma remind you of? Walking into a glove shop in Florence, or maybe an old library. Or maybe just an old shoe...

VIGNETTE / vin'yet

1. A frame that draws attention to the centre.

2. A brief but powerful scene.

From the Middle French vignete, a diminutive form of the noun vigne meaning 'vine': an illustration of vine tendrils around the borders of a page.

Oh, hey! Let’s keep in touch!

Thanks!
