Pour yourself a glass of Hygge. What exactly makes a wine cosy? Something I can imahgine sipping in front of a fire; wines that don't demand a meal, merely a mood. Not too structured, with plenty of inky fruit. Just add your own sofa.
Judith Beck INK 2019 (Biodynamic, minimal sulfites)
A blend of Zweigelt and St Laurent in keeping with Judith's love of showcasing Austria's native grape creds. Bright and lively, with excellent freshness providing a counterpoint to the mouthexplosion of dark, inky fruit. The wine equivalent of getting your fingers stained greedily picking juicy, tart, black and red berries off the bush. 12.5% abv.
Domaine Culombu, Tribbiera Rouge, Corsica, France 2018
30% Grenache, 30% Nielluccio, 10% Sciaccarello, 20% Syrah, 10% Cinsault, a
veritable rainbow of local grapely treasures. The wine is unoaked, creating a deep ruby red wine of deceptive lightness and freshness, that bursts full of fresh berries, with a herbal, spicy finish.
Clos St Michelle, "Mathilde", Cote du Rhone, 2016
A juicy, full-bodied "Chateauneuf-du-Pape' style Cotes du Rhone from 4th generation winemakers, Franck and Olivier Mousset. This small estate of 15 hectares is located in the village of Sorgues, on the road to Chateauneuf du Pape, (where 3 hectares of their 16 hectares of vines are planted - the rest is classified as Côtes-du-Rhone). A rich and intense wine, dark ruby in colour with juicy notes of ripe blackcurrant, moreish liquorice and warming spices. On the palate, a hint of black olive enveloped in dark, ripe fruit. Grapes: 80% Grenache, 20% Syrah from 15-40 year old vines. Vegan, organic.
