Roz Rosato 'Calcarius' 2019 - Valentina Passalacqua, Puglia
Is it a light red, is it a rosé? Like many of Valentina's wines they are completely their own thing. Who needs labels anyway? A deep colour in keeping with Italian Rosato; deeper, and bringing much moreattitude than Provencal Rosé.
Made from organically grown Aleatico and Nero di Troia grapes, bottled with minimal sulfites, bringing a deceptively complex, aromatic wine full of energy, freshness and earthy red fruits.

About Valentina's Calcarius Range:
Valentina's "Progetto Calcarius" natural wines all display a saline minerality that speaks of the calcareous terroir she endeavours to express. (Hence the symbol for Calcium, Ca, on each label). They are naturally low in alcohol and are bottled unfined and unfiltered for maximum flavour, with minimal sulfites.
On a fruit spectrum from highly-processed 'Froot Loops' to actual piece of fruit freshly picked off a tree with your own hands, these wines are squarely at the latter end.
Much of the wine produced in the world today is at the Froot Loop end. That's why these are wines to be enjoyed with an open mind.
