Rosso di Montepulciano, Poliziano, Tuscany, 2018
A fantastic value expression of hand-harvested Tuscan Sangiovese. Antonio Galloni calls Poliziano "one of Montepulciano’s reference point producers". Damsons, red cherry and earthy flavours mingle with a touch of fine tannin and bright acidity giving that very Italian mouthfeel.
The Montepulciano clone of the grape Sangiovese is known as Prugnolo Gentile. Here it is blended with 20% Merlot for softness and voluptousness in the mouth , making this wine a kind of baby Super-Tuscan (where classic rustic Italian varietals are blended with French varieties).
