Innocenti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Tuscany 2014
From a wonderfully classical, traditional producer with vines planted between the picture-perfect Tuscan hilltop villages of Montefollonico and Montepulciano. Aged for 2 years in traditional, large, old oak 'botte'. The delicate translucency in the glass belies the power on the palate. The hallmark Italian sensibility of bold tannins and bold acidity that make the reds of Italy so perfect with food.
Concentrated and yet ethereal, with spicy notes of cinammon, plum, black tea and showing wonderful development in the bottle with an emergence of earthy, leathery notes.
Perfect with classic Italian fare; think meaty dishes and tomato sauces.
